Velocity Cabling installs business paging and intercom systems for commercial and industrial facilities across Toronto and the GTA. We work with IP-based paging platforms, traditional analog PA systems and hybrid configurations, designing every system around the specific conditions of your facility — ceiling height, ambient noise, zone layout, existing phone infrastructure and integration requirements. We commission every speaker before we leave and deliver configuration documentation at handover.
Why Paging and Intercom Systems Matter in Commercial Facilities
A paging system is how your facility communicates at scale — overhead announcements, emergency alerts, shift changes, visitor notifications and staff calls across a building, campus or multiple zones. An intercom system provides controlled two-way communication between specific points. Together, they reduce radio dependence, eliminate shouting across a warehouse floor and give staff a reliable, professional communication infrastructure that works the same way every time.
One-Way Paging
Overhead announcements, scheduled messages, emergency alerts and shift changes broadcast to all staff or a specific zone. Integrates with VoIP phone systems so any authorized user can initiate a page from their desk phone.
Two-Way Intercom
Voice communication between specific locations — reception and a door entry point, dispatch and a loading dock, a security desk and individual offices. IP intercoms integrate with your phone system so any desk phone can answer.
Zone Paging
Divide your facility into independent announcement zones — dock, pick area, office, mezzanine. Page one zone without interrupting others. Emergency pages override all zones simultaneously.
VoIP & Teams Integration
Modern IP paging systems integrate directly with Microsoft Teams Phone and SIP-based VoIP platforms. Staff page from their existing desk phone or Teams client — no separate console, no additional training.
Paging System Types We Design and Install
Every facility has different paging requirements. We assess your space, ambient noise level, zone layout and existing infrastructure before recommending a system type. The wrong system in the wrong environment means either overspending on technology you do not need or underspecifying for the demands of your space.
IP-Based PA Systems
Audio transmitted over your existing Cat6/Cat6A network. Each speaker is a PoE network device — no separate speaker wire from a central amplifier. Integrates natively with VoIP and Microsoft Teams.
Analog 70V/100V PA Systems
Central amplifier drives multiple ceiling, horn or surface-mount speakers over dedicated speaker wire. Simple, reliable and network-independent — the standard for warehouses, industrial and outdoor applications.
Two-Way Intercom Systems
Voice (and optionally video) communication between specific locations. Visitor presses button at entrance, reception answers from desk phone, door is released. Integrates with VoIP or as standalone system.
IP Paging vs Analog PA — Which Is Right for Your Toronto Facility?
In general: IP paging is the right choice for Toronto offices, schools and multi-floor buildings with existing Cat6A infrastructure and a VoIP phone system. Analog PA is the right choice for warehouses, manufacturing and industrial environments where network availability is not guaranteed and simplicity is a priority. Many Toronto facilities benefit from a hybrid: IP in the office wing, analog horn speakers in the warehouse.
| Feature | IP Paging | Analog PA |
|---|---|---|
| Wiring required | Cat6/Cat6A network drop | Dedicated speaker wire |
| Power source | PoE from network switch | Central amplifier (mains) |
| Zone control | Per-speaker or software | Amplifier zone switch |
| VoIP / Teams | Native SIP integration | Adapter required |
| Remote management | Web dashboard or app | Physical panel only |
| Best environment | Offices, schools, multi-floor | Warehouses, industrial, outdoor |
| Scalability | Add speaker on any network port | Limited by amplifier capacity |
| Network dependency | Required | None — standalone operation |
| Typical cost | Higher (smart endpoints) | Lower (passive speakers) |
Speaker Types & Mounting Configurations
Choosing the right speaker for your environment is as important as the system behind it. An office-grade ceiling speaker is completely inaudible in a high-bay warehouse. A horn speaker in an open-plan office is deafening. We specify speakers matched to your ceiling height, ambient noise level and the layout of your space.
Ceiling Speakers
Flush-mounted in T-bar or drywall ceilings. Ideal for offices, retail, schools and healthcare. Clean finish, even sound distribution.
Horn Speakers
High-SPL projection speakers for warehouses, manufacturing, outdoor areas and high-noise environments. Penetrates forklift and machinery noise.
Surface-Mount
Wall or column mounted where ceiling installation is not possible. Used in stairwells, corridors, dock areas and concrete ceiling environments.
Pendant & Drop
Hung from high ceilings in warehouses, gyms and atriums where ceiling or surface mounting is impractical. Available in directional and wide-dispersion patterns.
Warehouse Paging Systems Across Toronto and the GTA
Warehouse paging is one of the most demanding paging environments: ambient noise from forklifts, conveyor systems, dock doors and HVAC regularly reaches 80–90 dB. A system perfectly intelligible in a downtown Toronto office will be completely inaudible in a Brampton distribution centre.
High-SPL Horn Speakers for High-Bay Environments
We specify horn speakers with sufficient dB output to overcome warehouse ambient noise. Speaker positioning accounts for racking height, aisle orientation and forklift traffic patterns to ensure intelligibility at ground level.
Zone Paging by Department or Area
Divide your warehouse into paging zones — shipping dock, receiving, pick area, mezzanine, office — and page each independently or simultaneously. Emergency pages override all zones.
Dock Door Intercom Integration
Two-way intercom at dock doors so drivers can reach dispatch or receiving without entering the facility. Integrates with your phone system so dock calls ring a dedicated extension.
Outdoor Yard and Perimeter Paging
Weatherproof horn speakers for truck yard, parking and perimeter areas. Rated for Ontario climate — temperature-stable sealed enclosures and UV-resistant mounting hardware.
Office Building Paging Systems — VoIP and Microsoft Teams Integration
Most Toronto office buildings already have a VoIP or Microsoft Teams phone system. A properly configured IP paging system makes that infrastructure the paging controller — any authorized Teams Phone or VoIP user can initiate a page to a zone or the entire building by dialing a paging extension. No separate paging console, no training beyond what your staff already know.
Microsoft Teams Phone Paging
We configure a SIP paging extension within your Teams Phone tenant. Any Teams user can dial the extension to page a zone or all zones simultaneously — from a desk phone, Teams desktop app or Teams mobile app.
Multi-Floor Zone Paging
Page a single floor, a department or all floors simultaneously. Emergency pages override all zones. Floor-by-floor zone paging is standard on IP systems and requires only network drops at speaker locations.
Reception Visitor Announcement
Reception presses a speed-dial key or button to announce a visitor arrival to a specific floor or department. Clean, professional workflow that eliminates PA microphones at reception desks.
Emergency All-Zone Override
Emergency announcements immediately override zone settings and broadcast to every speaker in the building. Can be triggered from reception, a security desk, a panic button or integrated with your fire alarm panel.
Business Intercom Installation in Toronto
A business intercom system provides controlled, two-way communication between specific points in your facility. Modern IP intercoms connect over your existing Cat6/Cat6A network and integrate with your phone system — a visitor presses the button at the front door, the receptionist's desk phone rings, they speak with the visitor and release the door lock without leaving their desk. That workflow also works from a Teams or VoIP softphone anywhere with internet access.
Office Building Entry Intercom
IP video intercom at lobby entrance and suite doors. Reception or building management answers from desk phone. Door release integrated with electric strike or magnetic lock. Common in Toronto downtown core, Midtown and North York offices.
Warehouse Dock Door Intercom
Two-way intercom at loading dock doors so drivers can reach dispatch or receiving without entering the facility. Calls ring a dedicated extension that any authorized staff member can answer from their desk phone.
Secure Area & Server Room
Intercom at controlled-access areas where staff need to call for entry authorization. Common in Toronto data centres, legal offices, financial services firms and medical facilities where card or fob access is combined with visual or voice verification.
Multi-Tenant Building Systems
Intercom panels for multi-tenant commercial buildings in Toronto — one panel with individual tenant buttons, each ringing the appropriate suite's phone extension. Tenant directory updated via web interface on IP systems.
