Data Centre &
Server Room Cabling.
Cat6A, OM4/OM5/OS2 fiber, MPO trunks, patch panels, containment and rack builds. Certified on every run, documented port by port, and installed in live rooms without downtime.
What data centre cabling actually involves
Data centre cabling is the structured copper and fiber inside a server room or data hall: Cat6A horizontal runs to each rack, fiber backbone between rows and to the MDF, patch panels, MPO trunks, overhead containment, and the labelling and test records that make it traceable. It is built to a tighter density and documentation standard than office cabling.
The difference is not the cable, it is the tolerance. An office can absorb a messy closet. A data hall cannot: cable congestion blocks airflow, undocumented ports cost hours during an incident, and a full tray means the next cabinet gets surface-run cable along the wrong path. We build rooms so the fifth expansion is as clean as the first.
What we install
Cat6A structured cabling
Horizontal runs cabinet to patch panel, shielded or UTP, terminated to TIA-568 permanent link limits. 10GbE and PoE++ rated throughout.
Fiber backbone
OM4 and OM5 multimode row to row and row to MDF. OS2 single-mode for inter-building and long links. Fusion spliced on site.
MPO / MTP trunk systems
Pre-terminated 12 and 24-fibre trunks with cassettes. Fast deployment, consistent loss budget, no field splicing in the cabinet.
Patch panels & rack builds
Copper and fiber panels, cabinets and open racks, vertical and horizontal managers, blanking and airflow discipline.
Overhead containment
Ladder rack, basket tray and waterfall drops sized to 40 percent fill. Copper and fiber on separate paths per TIA-942.
MDF & IDF build-outs
Main and intermediate frames for multi-floor and campus sites. Sequenced panels, fiber enclosures, full port documentation.
Certification & documentation
Fluke DSX on every copper run, OTDR on every strand, TIA-606 labelling, patch schedule and as-built drawings.
Migrations & decommissioning
Cabinet moves, controlled cutovers with written rollback, abandoned cable removal to code, and re-certification after change.
Which media for which link
Cat6A for horizontal runs inside a cabinet row. OM4 for row-to-row and row-to-MDF backbone. OM5 where 400G headroom is wanted. OS2 between buildings or past multimode distance. MPO trunks wherever cabinet density makes field termination impractical.
| Media | Link | Rate | Reach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cat6A | Cabinet to patch panel, ToR uplink | 10GbE / PoE++ | 100 m |
| OM4 | Row to row, row to MDF | 100GbE | 100 m |
| OM5 | High-density backbone, SWDM4 | 400GbE | 150 m |
| OS2 | Building to building, campus, long haul | 100GbE+ | 10 km+ |
| MPO 12F/24F | Cabinet trunks, cassette to cassette | 40G / 100G / 400G | Pre-terminated |

Working in a running room
Yes, we cable live data centres without downtime. We pull to spare pathway, stage cabinet by cabinet, and cut over inside agreed maintenance windows — never without a written rollback plan.
- Pathway first. New cable lands in spare tray before anything is touched at the cabinet.
- Staged by cabinet. One row at a time, so exposure is bounded and reversible.
- Written change windows. Access, escort and cutover times agreed before mobilisation.
- Airflow protected. No cable across a cold aisle, no blocked perforated tile, blanking reinstated.
- Rollback documented. Every cutover has a defined revert path and a stop point.
