What Commercial Network Cabling Covers

Network cabling is the physical layer everything else depends on. Horizontal runs from the comms room to each work area outlet, backbone between floors or buildings, patch panels, faceplates, pathway, labelling and the certification that proves the whole channel performs to standard.

It gets installed once and lived with for a decade. Switches get replaced, access points get replaced, the cable in the walls does not — which is why the specification decision matters far more than the day rate, and why we survey before quoting rather than pricing over the phone.

We work commercial only. Offices, warehouses, retail, healthcare, schools and multi-tenant buildings across Toronto and the GTA. No residential.

Which Standard Do You Actually Need?

The most common question we answer. Here is the short version — each option links through to the detail.

Choosing a cabling specification for a commercial project in Toronto and the GTA.
If your project is… Install Why
An office refit, runs under 55m, standard PoE Cat6 Gigabit at full distance and PoE+ at 30W. Does the job for less where 10GbE at the desk is not planned.
New build, dense Wi-Fi, PoE++ cameras, 10GbE Cat6A 10GbE across the full 100m and 90W PoE++. The default for anything you expect to keep ten years.
Between floors, buildings, or past 100m Fiber optic Copper stops at 100 metres. Fiber does not, and it carries far more bandwidth per strand.
A server room, MDF or data centre Data centre cabling TIA-942 structured cabling, MPO trunks and patching built for density and airflow.
Voice, AV and control alongside data Low voltage The whole low-voltage scope under one contract instead of coordinating three trades.
High-bay warehouse or plant floor Cable tray Pathway comes first in industrial space. Tray sized properly now saves a rebuild later.

Not sure? That is what the free onsite survey is for. We measure runs, check existing pathway and tell you which specification your building actually needs — including when the cheaper option is the right one.

Environments

Where We Install.

Offices

Floor-by-floor horizontal cabling, comms room builds and AP drops for multi-floor tenancies.

Warehouses

High-bay tray, WMS-ready drops and dense AP coverage for scanning environments.

Data centres

Structured cabling, MPO trunk systems and patching built to TIA-942.

Multi-site

Coordinated rollouts across locations. Same spec, same execution, one contact.

Common Questions

Network Cabling Questions.

The ones we answer on nearly every project. Specification detail lives on the individual service pages.

The physical infrastructure that carries data around a building: horizontal cable from the comms room to each work area outlet, backbone between floors or buildings, patch panels, faceplates, pathway and the testing that proves it all performs. It is installed once and lived with for a decade, which is why specification matters more than the day rate.

Cat6 suits office refits where runs stay under 55 metres and PoE demand is modest. Cat6A is the right default for new construction, dense wireless and PoE++ devices, because it holds 10GbE across the full 100 metres. Fiber handles backbone, campus links and anything beyond copper distance. We recommend one at the onsite survey rather than defaulting to whichever is most expensive.

A typical 40 to 60 drop office runs two to three working days including termination, dressing, labelling and certification. Multi-floor and multi-site projects are phased. You get a firm schedule in the written proposal before anyone pulls cable.

Yes. Every copper run is tested with a Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer against the relevant TIA-568 limits, and fiber is certified to Tier 1 and Tier 2. You receive the full port-by-port report before the project closes. No sampling.

Routinely. Evenings, weekends and phased rollouts are normal for us, and all scheduling is agreed in writing before we start so your floor stays open during business hours.

Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Oakville, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Whitby and Pickering. Crews dispatch from our Toronto base and reach most GTA sites within an hour.
