What We Install In Whitby

Five services, one crew and one quote. Here is what each one covers in a Whitby building.

Data Cabling

Office data cabling

New drops for desks, printers, phones, cameras and access points, run back to your comms room and terminated on a patch panel. In an existing Whitby office we add drops without disturbing the ones that already work.

Network Cabling

Network cabling

The full structured cabling job: racks, patch panels, cable management, horizontal runs and the backbone between floors. Built to TIA-568 and labelled to match the drawings, so the next IT company can read it without calling us.

Cat6 Cabling

Cat6 details

The right cable for most desks, VoIP phones and fixed cameras. Gigabit to the full 100 m and 10 Gb up to about 55 m. For a typical office fit-out in Whitby it covers almost everything, and we will tell you when it does not.

Cat6A Cabling

Cat6A details

For Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points, PoE++ devices and anything that needs 10 Gb over a full 100 m. It is what we recommend in the new warehouses near Highways 407 and 412, where access points sit high up and stay in service for years.

Fiber Optic Cabling

Fiber optic cabling

Single-mode and multimode backbone between floors, between buildings on the same lot, and out to IDFs more than 90 m from the main rack. Fusion spliced or pre-terminated, then certified with loss and OTDR testing.

Where We Work In Whitby

Whitby has three very different kinds of commercial space, plus an older downtown. The cabling job changes with each one.

South Whitby industrial

Hopkins St, Consumers Dr, Forbes St, Stellar Dr

Older multi-tenant units with an office at the front and a shop or warehouse at the back. The usual job is new office drops, a proper rack in place of a wall-mounted switch, and a few runs into the warehouse for scanners and an access point.

Port Whitby and Water Street

Water St, Charles St, Industrial Dr

New large-format industrial space close to the 401. If you are fitting out a new unit here, the cheapest time to run cabling is before racking goes up and the ceiling fills with sprinkler and HVAC lines.

North Whitby, Highways 407 and 412

Brooklin Gate Business Park, Baldwin St S, Thickson Rd N, Garrard Rd

Large distribution buildings where the far dock doors can be hundreds of metres from the office. Expect a fiber backbone to remote IDFs, Cat6A to high-mount access points and cameras, and cable tray sized for the whole low voltage scope.

Downtown Whitby and Dundas Street

Brock St, Dundas St, Rossland Rd

Offices, clinics and professional firms in older buildings. Pathways are tight, some ceilings are plaster or hard lid, and comms closets are small. We plan the routes on the survey so walls get opened as little as possible.

Cat6, Cat6A Or Fiber: What Your Whitby Building Needs

Most Whitby jobs use all three. What goes where depends on the device at the end of the run and how far it is from the rack.

Quick guide to cable type by use
Run forCableWhy
Desks, phones, printers and most fixed cameras Cat6 Gigabit to 100 m at the lowest cost per drop.
Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points Cat6A Multi-gig uplinks and PoE++, with less heat build-up in large bundles.
Anything more than 90 m from the rack Fiber Copper links stop at 100 m including patch cords. Fiber backbone runs for hundreds of metres or more.
Links between two buildings on the same lot Fiber Glass carries no current, so ground differences and surges cannot travel from one building to the other.
Switch uplinks and the server room Fiber or Cat6A 10 Gb and up between switches, with room to grow.

Not sure which you need? We make the call on the survey and explain it in the written quote.

Questions From Whitby Businesses

We book onsite surveys within 48 hours. Whitby is under an hour east of our Toronto office on the 401, so travel does not hold up a survey or an install.

That is the best time to do it. We can install tray, backbone fiber and access point drops while the building is still empty, then add desk drops once the office layout is final.

Yes. We run fiber between them, either underground in existing conduit or overhead where the site allows it, and terminate it in both comms rooms. Fiber keeps the two buildings electrically separate.

A Fluke DSX report for every copper run, loss and OTDR results for fiber, ports labelled at both ends and as-built drawings. A 25-year manufacturer warranty is available on qualifying systems.
