One Project, Every System

How the network, cameras and doors share one cabling plant

Cameras, access points and door controllers run on the same copper and the same switches as your desks. Planning them together saves a second pull later.

Pathway sized once

Tray and J-hooks sized for every cable on day one, so the camera stage does not find them full.

One PoE budget

Switch power planned for cameras, access points and readers together, with headroom for more.

Cameras kept apart

Camera traffic on its own VLAN, so recording does not slow the office network.

One handover

One test report, one label scheme and one set of drawings for the whole building.

More detail in our guides to designing one network for cameras, VoIP and devices and planning PoE power.

Where we work in Guelph, and what changes on site

Guelph runs from 1840s limestone downtown to new class-A distribution space in the south end. Each building type changes how the cable goes in.

South end

Hanlon Creek Business Park

Newer industrial and corporate office buildings off the Hanlon Expressway, a few minutes from the 401. High clear heights and open floors.

Install note

High-bay tray and lift work. Long runs mean a second IDF on fiber. Best cabled during fit-out, before racking goes in.

South end

Southgate Drive & Laird Road

Large new distribution buildings next to industrial units built in the 1980s.

Install note

New builds need dock, yard and scanner Wi-Fi coverage. Older units often hold legacy Cat5e that is worth testing before it is ripped out.

North end

Northwest Industrial Park

An established manufacturing district along Woodlawn Road West, Silvercreek Parkway and Speedvale Avenue West.

Install note

Shielded cable or fiber near CNC, welding and VFDs. Conduit or armour where cable crosses a production floor. Dust-rated camera housings.

Core

Downtown Guelph

Limestone heritage buildings around St. George's Square, Wyndham Street and Macdonell Street.

Install note

Surface pathway agreed with the landlord, coring approved first, extra access points because stone stops Wi-Fi. Camera mounts set in mortar joints.

South central

University & Stone Road

Research park labs, clinics and multi-tenant offices around the University of Guelph and Stone Road.

Install note

Instruments on segregated networks, clean work in occupied space, and riser access booked with the landlord ahead of time.

Puslinch

Aberfoyle & the 401

Industrial and food facilities along Brock Road and the 401, just south of the city.

Install note

Long yard runs. Direct-burial or duct fiber to gatehouses and outbuildings, pole-mounted cameras and LPR at the gate.

We also work in Fergus and Elora, Rockwood, Morriston, Arkell and the rest of Wellington County. Heading west? See our Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge cabling page.

Security Cameras

CCTV for Guelph warehouses, plants and storefronts

We start with what each camera has to show. The camera, lens, mounting height and cable follow from that.

Recording is sized to your retention target in days, on an NVR or a VMS, and remote viewing is set up for the people who need it. To size the system, see how many cameras a business needs. For signage and retention policy, read our video surveillance guidelines.

Common Questions

Guelph network, fiber and CCTV cabling FAQs

Yes. We install commercial data cabling, fiber optic backbone and IP camera systems across Guelph, including Hanlon Creek Business Park, the Southgate Drive and Laird Road area, Northwest Industrial Park, downtown and the University and Stone Road area. We also cover Puslinch, Aberfoyle, Fergus, Elora and Rockwood. Commercial and industrial sites only. The free site survey is booked within 48 hours.
Our crews travel from Toronto, roughly 100 km along the 401 and Highway 6. We book the site survey within 48 hours of your call, then send an itemized written proposal. Travel is accounted for in that proposal, so you see the full cost before you approve anything.
Yes, and it usually costs less. IP cameras run on the same Cat6A cable and PoE switches as the rest of your network. One crew means one pathway, one pull schedule, one patch panel build and one test report, instead of two trades working around each other.
Cat6A is the right choice for 4K and multi-sensor cameras because it carries PoE++ and has bandwidth to spare for the next camera upgrade. Cat6 works for standard cameras on shorter runs. Anything past 90 metres, or in another building, goes on fiber with a PoE switch at the far end.
Yes. Links between buildings use OS2 single-mode fiber in outdoor-rated or armoured cable, pulled through existing conduit, new duct or aerial strand depending on the site. Every strand is fusion spliced, OTDR tested and documented.
Yes. Limestone walls change the plan. We agree surface pathway routes with the landlord, get coring approved before install day, and add access points because stone blocks far more Wi-Fi signal than drywall. Exterior camera mounts go into mortar joints rather than the stone face.
Yes. We test existing cable on the Fluke DSX, reuse runs that pass, and tell you which cameras, switches or recorder settings are causing problems. You get the test data first, then decide what to replace.
Every copper run is certified on a Fluke DSX against TIA-568 limits. Every fiber strand is OTDR and loss tested. Cameras are handed over with a schedule showing each location, IP address and a snapshot of its view. You also get TIA-606 labels at both ends, a patch panel schedule and as-built drawings.
It depends on the number of drops and cameras, route length, ceiling height and access, cable type, how much fiber is involved and whether work has to happen after hours. We do not quote per drop over the phone, because a high-bay warehouse and an occupied heritage office price very differently. The free survey gives you an itemized number.
